When a douchebag that cares nothing about anything other than his pockets. With any luck a giant redwood falls on his head.
Pretty sure it was well before Cleopatra built a summer house. Rich people think they can move away and it only affects the poor. Eventually you run out of planet, but they are so selfish they don’t care.
Like most things wrong with our society today, it really got started during the Reagan administration.
Ask congress, ask trump, ask big business! Why do they want to poison our air water land and food? Why is it okay to not support States fighting fires that are destroying our forests? Are they really that short sighted, is money more important than our people or environment?
Republican senators and congressfolk also believe in Climate Change, but their corporate masters will not let them admit it.
We don’t need clean air or water.Just ask this administration. Education etc are all goin down the tube . Republicans need to keep their people gullible.
1) ‘better’ – does it mean a more healthy environment, or enough jorbs to go around? Are those things mutually exclusive?
2) ‘children’ – does that just mean the ones that live in my house, or like, all of them?
It happened when a selfish real estate guy who has fought against the environment most of his life took office while a bunch of lobbyists for corporations paid off other legislators because they are all as selfish and greedy as the guy at the top.
Weird those that have been shouting “WE ARE A CHRISTIAN NATION”!! are the very ones bent on encouraging ‘the’ pathological liar instead of holding him accountable, and cheering for the destruction of mother earth/creation..Go figure..
When? When the Republican party decided greed and money were more important the nature and health? When the Republicans decided reality and science should have a back seat to partisan dogma.
It became a partisan issue when politics and political parties meant more than our children and their future. I grew up wanting a cleaner environment for my children and now for my grandchildren. I fought these battles 30 plus years ago and now am retired and I have to do it again. Our government is sick and apathetic to all of us.
I wish we could rebuild our inner cities, spread the wealth more evenly, and stop the endless building that takes away habitat that supports all of our planet 🌎 species. Make a difference and take part in caring and resisting. Our children deserve a future with prosperity’s.
I don’t understand when caring for the environment somehow became anti-christian. As if loving nature meant not believing in God. I am Christian and I believe in science. When did that become a conflict?
Its about everybody wanting more and nobody paying attention to the cost in resources. About carrying more about any easy job and less about a sustainable one. About only doing short term planning and no one considering the future. About a human lust of wanting it now instead of learning how to wait until we can get it right. Blame whoever you want, its really about the arrogance of humans who think they are worth more than other forms of life.
I agree and have often stated this but it seems more people are concerned about the petty $ than leaving the Earth a bit cleaner for their children and grandchildren. Greed….plain, simple and very shortsighted.
It became a partisan issue when this incarnation of the GOP made profit a priority over the environment. We started talking about environment protection in the sixties. I cannot be the only one old enough to remember that. Our government is only interested in the 1%. Well we out number them and it is time for us to take a stand.
Each one of us can do something to reduce our carbon footprint. It might be as little as using less water or not throwing your trash out car windows. It could be as big as recycling all your garbage or growing your own food. Or anywhere in between. Stop talking about it and arguing over it and trying to dissect it and making sure “somebody” is to blame. Start small if you have to but start right now making a difference because if we want a planet that’s a great place for kids to grow up it has to start somewhere. And as an old comic strip possum named Pogo used to say, “We has met the enemy and he is us.”
This happened around 2008 with the Tea Party , glorifying ignorance and selfish greed. Prior to that, the GOP was a party of good ideas, and their platform was NOT to destroy the earth, destroy clean water, or destroy the middle class.
Democrats in California tried to vote down the gas tax. Any laws we have to protect the environment seem to come from Nixon and Reagan. I see a lot of bitching on the left that brings up everything but the environment. Whose platform is the environment? I want Winona LaDuke to just hold me for a little while and tell me it’ll be OK (even though I’m an old white guy).
Because mega business, mega banks big Pharma, and the Koch brothers don’t give a damn whether there is anything to leave your kids
In fact they hope your kids will work for them at minimum wage, without benefits when they grow up
And they own the Teapublicans
Oh my God. THANK YOU for this. I keep saying that over and over and over again……..these are not ‘party’ issues we are battling, they are ‘humanitarian issues’!!!
We have to remember that conservatives (albeit not the ones who make it into government) worry about preserving things too, some which are not as important to tree-huggers like myself, but not all of them bad (like white supremacy and fuel inefficient vehicles just for show). That’s why education is so important. It’s too bad politicians take advantage of people’s love of God, country, and family. Hate and foul language will not help elicit cooperation from those whose votes are, apparently, valued more than ours.
Why is the concept of leaving nature alone such a foreign concept. Leave the shells on the beach. Leave the animals to themselves. Stop picking up random rocks. Just admire what is there while your there. And when you miss it go back.
Even if a person doesn’t believe that climate change is human made, a decent person wants to follow my mother’s advice, “always try to leave a place better than you found it.” There’s also another saying, “no animal craps in its own bed.” If we care at all about our children and their children, we should take good care of our home planet – it’s the only one we’ve got!
I feel the need to say that we all need to take responsibility for the damage being done as well as hold our government responsible. We have become endless consumers with no thought of the amount of garbage we create and pollution we contribute. We all have to make a decision to sacrifice, to recycle, to compost, etc and not just rely on others to create laws to keep us in check.
